Electronic music for the soul

Modulate was established in Colwyn Bay during 2018 as a non profit community arts event aimed at promoting local original talent. We provide a platform for artists who want to perform unique and original electronic music live for an audience of like minded souls and curious music lovers.

We are unapologetic hardware geeks and have built an audience who love watching people take risks and put themselves out there to perform their music.  We’re really proud to have supported a number of people have performed their first ever live gig at Modulate.  Some of our more established artists have used our events to develop new material that has gone on to be released.

Prior to the pandemic we hosted our events at Sheldons bar, before moving to hosting online shows during lockdown.  You can check out these fabulous performance on our YouTube channel.Fast forward to 2023 and we have a brand new home at the awesome Ink Gallery in Colwyn Bay where we will be holding regular events.

For our regular Moduate events, we will still be inviting artists to perform alongside our established residents. We are now also hosting an EMOM event at a new venue located a local brewery and welcome applications from anyone who interested in playing.

For those who don't know what an EMOM is, a typical night could include everything from techno through to experimental and ambient music, from chiptune through to live coding and looping, field recording and industrial. The choice of technology is also wide ranging; lap tops, iPads and mobile phones are welcome, as are drum machines, synths, groove boxes, sequencers, samplers, modular set ups, keyboards, DJ decks, and analogue and digital devices of all kinds.

If you'd like to come and play for our wonderful, supportive audience, just fill in your details below and we'll get back to you to let you know if and when we are able to offer you a slot.
